Cade Burks is a successful entrepreneur, developing marketable services for the wholesale and retail energy markets, and building start-up companies into multi-million dollar organizations. His vision and steady, confident leadership has enabled him to spearhead an impressive list of complex, client-focused business and technical strategies. Cade specializes in driving efficiencies in the energy industry and within his clients’ organizations, developing and implementing standards and business models that are underpinned by robust technical solutions.
Cade serves as Chief Digital Officer, Chairman and Founder of Big Data Energy Services, which he formed in October 2012. He actively manages all activities, including developing new services around smart meter data, electronic transaction and big data service to retail energy providers . His company is a trailblazer in applying communication, security and electronic transactions standards for transmitting electronic data.
Cade is the Vice-Chairman of the Board of the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB), a non-profit, standards development organization designed to work with industry, creating wholesale and retail electric and natural gas business practices to accommodate a seamless marketplace for customers,consumers, the business community and regulating entities. Cade was Chairman of NAESB from 2015 through 2017 and currently chairs the Critical Infrastructure Committee addressing cyber security issues within the industry. He also chairs the Retail Markets Quadrant, which supports retail electric and gas market transactions, Green Button, and OpenFMB standards.
Cade has held many other executive positions including the Executive Vice President for ista North America from 2008 to 2012, board-level positions with Rineer Hydraulics Inc. from 2005 to 2009 and Community Certified Development Corporation from 2005 to 2009. He founded EC Power and served as its Chairman and Chief Technology Officer from 1995 to 2008. Cade developed a strong background in financial and technology services serving as a Programmer Analysis for Chevron and as a strategic information technology consultant for Ernst and Young. Cade graduated from Texas A&M University. He holds a Master of Science in Business Computer Science as well as a Bachelors of Business Administration in Business Analysis.
